In the first week of January 2010, several sponsored children of Volontariat participated in the 16th World Festival of Yoga, supported by the Ministry of Tourism and held in Pondicherry. Many of them won awards and even had their photos in the regional Press.
They also demonstrated their incredible skill during the festival of Pongal, which was celebrated at Touttipakkam farm on January 16, along with dances and songs.
Their Yoga teacher has thirty students currently at Shakti Vihar premises, and takes classes three times a week. He also teaches chess to the children!
In the same month, we had the pleasure to meet again, Kumaran, the most talented of our yoga performers. His success story is a matter of pride to the organization. Kumaran was sponsored for many years and passed his academic and yoga exams with credit. He first became a yoga teacher in Volontariat. Then he spent six months at Toulouse as a volunteer of Emmaus association. On his return, he obtained a teaching position in Yoga at a well known school, partly due to his stint abroad. After two years, he joined the staff at a school of Yoga in Singapore. Later he moved to Hong Kong, where he currently teaches Yoga. He lives in Hong Kong with his young wife.
